Remote Smart Materials and Structures Laboratory

.: Welcome to the online remote laboratory :.

This web site serves as an interface between your computer and real-time Smart Materials experiements in the SMSL. Students use this site to conduct experiments for the gathering of real-world data for analysis in homework assignments. The experiments themselves are the work of graduate students, and often relate directly to their Ph.D. or M.S. theses.

This remote laboratory is currently only available to students who are taking Dr. Song's Intelligent Structure Systems or authorized users. (For Dr. Song's Students)

  • Please log in using your Blackboard user id. If it is the first time using this website, your password is the same as your user id.
  • Install the LabVIEW Run-Time Drivers from
    ftp://ftp.ni.com/support/softlib/labview/labview_runtime/2009/
    Select the appropriate Operating System from the list and download/install the LVRTE90min.exe (32 bit).
    64bit drivers warning Do not install the 64bit version since the LabVIEW remote panel is only 32bit.
  • Go to Schedule and select the day you would like to perform your experiment. Choose the time of day and click on Add.
  • Choose the available experiment and Submit. If there are no available experiments for the chosen date and time, look at the Experiments web page to find the opening schedule.
  • When it is time to perform the online laboratory experiment, click on Manage and follow the instructions.
